CONCENTRATION
1.What is the central idea of your concentration? (500 characters maximum)
Food is something that not only fills my stomach, but brings me joy. As someone who adores and thinks about food constantly, I wanted to illustrate a fraction of what goes on in my head through my concentration. To fully envelop my affection for food, I have structured my concentration to my personal preference in the structure of my meals. I love starting off my meals with anything sweet, then proceed to the savoury, and end off with another sugary item.
2.How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? You may refer to specific images as examples. When referencing specific images, please indicate the image numbers. (1350 characters maximum)
Throughout my concentration, I conveyed my enthusiasm for food through redesigning my room into a food-themed one. I found parallels between my room and food, as both bring me the same comfort in life that I yearn for. Starting from my workspace, the food items in images 1-5 reflect the sweet cravings I had while I was working on them. As I continue to guide the viewer through my room, I begin to implement the savoury cravings I had (images 6-11) and ended off the meal with something sweet just as I like it in image 12. In this series I also took the opportunity to further explore my theme through the posters and canvases I had in my room (images 3, 8, and 10). Furthermore, I took this exploration beyond 2D by creating a 3D object to combine and physically manifest the comfort I feel in my room and food in image 12 with the watermelon-like plushie sitting on the stool next to my bed of oversized macaroni, to combine and physically manifest the comfort I feel in my room and food.
